This Privacy Policy describes how Life Logger, developed and operated by Irving Ou, collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your personal data remains secure.
Data We Collect
Personal Content Data
Your life log entries, photos, and personal content are stored locally on your device by default. We do not automatically sync or upload your personal entries to our servers.
Account Information
When you create an account or sign in with Google, we collect and store:
- Email address
- Authentication tokens
- User ID assigned by our authentication provider (Supabase)
Voice Recording Data
When you use the voice recording feature with transcription enabled:
- Audio recordings are temporarily uploaded to our servers for transcription processing
- We use third-party transcription services to convert your audio to text
- Audio files are processed and then deleted from our servers
- The resulting text transcription is returned to your device
Technical and Usage Data
We automatically collect certain technical information to improve app performance and fix issues:
- Crash reports and error logs (via Sentry)
- App performance metrics
- Device type and operating system version
- User interaction patterns (anonymized)
- Session information when you're logged in
How We Use Your Data
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- Authentication: To create and manage your account and provide secure access to the app
- Voice Transcription: To convert your audio recordings into text for easier searchability and organization

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing or commercial purposes. Your life log entries and personal content remain private to you.
When We May Share Information

- Service Providers: With trusted third-party services (like Supabase and Sentry) that help us operate the app

Data Location
Your personal entries remain on your device. Authentication data and temporary transcription processing occur on servers located in the United States and are subject to U.S. privacy laws.

Control Over Your Data
You have several rights and options regarding your data:
- Local Data: Your entries remain on your device. You can delete them anytime by deleting individual entries or the entire app
- Account Data: You can request deletion of your account and associated authentication data
- Transcription: You can disable voice transcription in the app settings to prevent audio from being processed
- Export: Export functionality for your local data is planned for a future release

Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under privacy laws such as GDPR or CCPA:
- Right to access your personal information

TestFlight Beta Program
If you participate in our TestFlight beta program, additional data collection may occur:
- Apple TestFlight Data: Apple may collect crash reports and basic analytics if you've opted into sharing with developers
- Beta Feedback: Any feedback you provide through TestFlight is shared with us
- Usage Analytics: We may collect additional anonymous usage data to improve the beta experience
Beta data collection helps us identify and fix issues before the public release. You can opt out of TestFlight data sharing in your iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.
Data Retention
We retain different types of data for different periods:
- Personal Entries: Stored indefinitely on your device until you delete them
- Account Information: Retained until you delete your account or request deletion
- Audio Files: Immediately deleted after transcription processing is complete
- Error Logs: Retained for up to 90 days for debugging purposes
- Authentication Sessions: Automatically expire and are refreshed as needed
When you delete your account, we will delete your authentication data within 30 days. Your local entries will remain on your device unless you also delete the app.
Children's Privacy
Life Logger is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to us, please contact us immediately.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and notify TestFlight users of any significant changes. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.
